Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Furry Friend

When they say the phrase “man’s best friend” they’re not wrong. Dogs bring a certain unconditional love that compares to none. But it’s not just dogs, cats too! Some might even say ferrets and snakes as well (but I’m still skeptical). So why not show them, on the day where people express their love and gratitude, just how much we care! Dedicate this Valentine’s Day to your furry friends and I’m here to help you out!

I’ve found 2 delicious dog treat recipes (at least that’s what my dog thinks) and 2 cat treat recipes. If you have any other furry friend, I recommend using Pinterest for ideas.

Homemade Dog Treats

I made these treats using a heart shaped mold to represent Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients needed:

1 ½ cup of oats

½ cup of natural peanut butter

1 cup of sweet potatoes

Lightly mash the sweet potatoes before anything. Then combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, and if possible use a flat beater to mix. After, spoon the dough into the individual molds pressing with the back of the spoon. Lastly, rest the mold in the refrigerator for freeze for 30 minutes so the dough can firm up. Any leftover dough, make into balls and use them as treats for later for your four legged friend.

Valentine’s Dog Treats

These are actually delicious, furry friend taste test approved! I used the same heart shaped mold as the recipe above but feel free to use any other fun small mold. These are sweet so I recommend not giving your dog more than 2.

Ingredients needed:

¼ cup of Kelapo Coconut Oil (melted)

3-4 strawberries (finely diced)

Add a few pieces of the strawberries to each compartment on the mold of your choosing. Then pour the melted coconut over the strawberries and freeze. Depending on how big the molds are, you might have to melt a bit more coconut oil. Then pop in the freezer for about 35 minutes. When frozen pop out and serve or store in a container in the freezer.

Valentine’s Cat Treats

Ingredients needed:

2 medium sized sweet potatoes (smashed)

½ cup of coconut flour

½ cup of Kelapo Coconut Oil

1 egg

¼ cup of gelatin powder

1 can of tuna (drained)

For these treats, make sure to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Get a medium sized bowl and mix in all the ingredients. I recommend using a fork or a spoon to mash everything together until all large pieces of tuna and sweet potatoes are mashed up. If needed, add a little extra coconut flour to get the dough consistency one similar to that of play dough. Roll the dough into small 1 inch balls and then mash down with a fork to form little cookie, and then bake for about 20 minutes or until they’ve browned a little. Remove from the oven and let cool down, then store in the refrigerator.

Kitty Kisses

This one is super quick and easy but the reviews were great! You kitty will definitely appreciate all the kisses

Ingredients needed:

1 tablespoon of catnip

1 can of cat food

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and then transfer them into a blender until smooth. Pour the puree into a ziplock bag and cut a small hole in the corner for access. Squeeze ½ inch kisses into a parchment lined baking sheet and then bake for about 15 minutes. Let cool and serve!

All these recipes are quick and easy, so I hope your furry friend enjoys!

Peace, love and Kelapo ♥
