Game Day Dip Ideas
Our favorite sports season is upon us and that means game days! My fiancée is thrilled any time I agree to host the game days at our house which to me means I’m making appetizers galore. Now, instead of fussing over what dishes to make I normally decide to keep it simple and try new dip recipes. Dips are great because you can either put them on bread, chips, pretzels or even vegetables. I guarantee that everyone will love them.
Hot Sausage Beer Cheese Dip
Ingredients needed:
1 (16 oz) roll hot breakfast sausage
1 tablespoon of Kelapo Ghee
4 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup of beer (IPA’s are a good option)
¼ teaspoon of garlic powder
2 (8 oz) low-fat cream cheese
¼ cup of diced green onions
Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. On a skillet add the Kelapo Ghee and turn heat to medium until ghee melts. Once melted add the sausage and cook until it is no longer pink. As you cook the sausage, make sure to break it apart so you get pieces of sausage. In a food processor, add in 2 cups of cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, and beer then blend. Mix everything until all ingredients are fully combined. For this next step, you can either use an oven-safe skillet or a separate oven-safe bowl. Add the mixture to the bowl, pour the sausage with its juices on top and add the last 2 cups of cheddar cheese. Using a non-stick spatula mix everything together and then pop into the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Once ready, remove from the oven and sprinkle the diced green onions on top. Serve with your favorite chips or veggies.
Cheesy Bacon Spinach Dip
Ingredients needed:
10 slices of bacon
1 (8 oz.) block of cream cheese (softened)
1/3 cup of mayonnaise
1/3 cup of sour cream
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of salt
1 lb. of frozen chopped spinach (thawed and squeezed of excess liquid)
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 cup of shredded mozzarella (divided)
Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Next, cook the strips of bacon on medium heat until crispy. This should be about 6 to 8 minutes. Once they’re ready, place cooked bacon on a wire rack to run the excess fat off of them and then chop into pieces. In a separate large bowl add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper then using a non-stick spatula combine all ingredients until thoroughly mixed. In that same bowl, add the spinach, bacon, parmesan cheese and ¾ cup of mozzarella. Fold all the ingredients together while making sure everything is coated. Transfer the mixture in an oven-safe dish of your choosing, I used a skillet for this dip as well, and top with the remaining mozzarella. Sprinkle more salt and pepper on top of the mozzarella. Pop the dip in the oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the dip is golden brown and bubbly. This dip is best served with toasted breaded like a baguette or pita bread with some olive oil.
