DIY Dry, Cracked Foot Relief

After Coconut Oil Treatment

Dry, cracked feet are a continuous problem of many people. Did you know that the skin on your feet is naturally dry, unlike the skin on the rest of your body? The skin on our feet has no oil glands, so it relies on hundreds of thousands of sweat glands to keep our feet moisturized. This can be problematic for people who do not properly moisturize their feet on a regular basis or use my favorite option, coconut oil. Coconut oil tends to keep your feet, and skin, filled with moisture keeping your skin soft.

You may ask if I have a special technique for using coconut oil on the feet and I do. I have experimented at home with coconut oil on my feet before but this is definitely my favorite way of applying the oil. Let’s take a look at my technique:

  • Wash your foot with a mild soap to clear off any dirt.
  • Using about a tablespoon per foot gently apply the oil all over your foot while massaging it into your skin.
  • Once both feet have been moisturized, put socks on and leave on overnight.

My husband loves getting a foot rub so I decided to try this on him one night when I noticed his feet felt extremely callused. After I rubbed the oil onto both feet I applied socks to his feet and we went to bed for the night. I hadn’t experimented with this before but I thought the socks would help to keep the moisture on his feet and not the bed. We woke up the next morning and he said that his feet felt fantastic. They were as smooth as a newborn’s bottom and the dried skin had completely disappeared. I now highly recommend this treatment to anyone who suffers from dry, cracked feet.
