The Best Facial Moisturizer
Jar In the Bathroom!
As the winter months are slowly (and I mean slowly) approaching here in Florida, my skin is becoming more and more dry. This tends to happen to me the most before bed and in the mornings, especially on my face. I personally don’t like to use heavy creams on my face, so I recently turned to an all-natural solution: coconut oil.
Coconut oil is not only used for cooking and baking, it’s also amazing for topical application. There are anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties in coconut oil, which may make this beneficial for acne as well. You can keep a jar in your bathroom or I also use these travel packets for a convenience factor (great for trips).
To use coconut oil as a facial moisturizer, I first start off by taking my make up off. You can actually place a dab of coconut oil on a cotton ball and use this as an eye makeup remover, which is by far my favorite!
Next, I wash my face with a cleanser and pat dry with a washcloth. Then I take about 4 pea size portions of coconut oil and gently massage into my face, making sure to focus on my chin and nose since those are my two worst dry spots.
You may feel that your face is a little oily from the application, but within about 5 minutes your skin will absorb it and you’ll automatically feel refreshed!
Now as I said previously, there are times when I wake up and my skin is still a little on the dry side. I repeat the process of cleansing and applying coconut oil. Since I’ll be applying makeup after this, I do less coconut oil than at night (about 2 pea size portions).
I personally have not experienced any difference when applying coconut oil to my skin and then make up. If anything, I won’t have a “cakey” look when putting foundation and powder on.
As a reminder, you can also use coconut oil on your body as a moisturizer, which is especially great after shaving!
Hope you like it as much as I do and be sure to try our Raw Honey and Coconut Oil Face Mask for an even softer result.
