Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof coffee is the new “IT” breakfast drink? I think so as everyone is talking about it. At first I was a little skeptical about adding butter to my coffee but I thought I would give it a try. I’ve added coconut oil to my coffee before and it’s great, so why not mix the two together right? If you haven’t heard of bulletproof coffee it is adding butter and coconut oil to your coffee to make a delicious drink to perk up right up!  It’s super easy to make and doesn’t require much difference from your regular cup of morning joe.

Mixing together my coconut oil and butter

Ingredients:

2 cups of high quality coffee (This will produce the best results)

1 to 2 TB of Kelapo Coconut Oil

2 TB unsalted high quality butter (Again, the higher the quality the better the results :))

Directions:

  1. Brew your coffee as you normally would.
  2. In your blender, blend coffee, butter and coconut oil until it becomes frothy.
  3. Pour coffee into desired mug and flavor with your favorite sweetener, if desired.

Surprisingly enough this coffee was very tasty. I added some of my favorite sweetener for a little more sweetness but I really enjoyed the outcome. A lot of people that are following the Paleo Diet seem to love this coffee. While in Boulder, CO a couple of weeks ago many people were asking me if I had tried this yet. That is when I really knew I needed to give it a try, if so many people are enjoying it, it must taste great.

I wanted to also gear this towards Father’s Day since it is tomorrow as an easy DIY project for dad or last minute gift idea. I wasn’t able

to get to the store in time but I have done this for my father-in-law as a Christmas gift! Go to your local dollar store and buy a plain white coffee mug. Come home and have the kids personally design the mug with a sharpie for dad. You could also use finger paint and have the kids put their hand or foot on the mug; this is what I did when my son was still little. Then preheat your oven to 350 degrees and “bake” the mug for about 10 minutes. Let cool and give to Dad or Grandpa as a special gift. If you aren’t able to custom the mug do what I did and buy a mug with your husband’s, or father’s, name on it and give it to him as a gift. He can enjoy this delicious cup of coffee on Father’s Day morning in his new mug!
