Our local paper, the St. Petersburg Times, has covered coconut oil and the beneficial effects of coconut oil on Alzheimer’s patients, more than once. Here is a great video from their site that follows the story of one couple and their personal struggle with Alzheimer’s and how they have overcome the disease.

Just a FYI, the couple you show in Florida I am familiar with. Unfortunately, the oil was a temporary fix and he is quite bad now. Not saying there aren’t other benefits, but not for Alzheimer’s.
We’ve heard so many great stories about coconut oil from those who have loved ones with Alzheimer’s. Anything to improve the quality of life for someone with Alzheimer’s is a good thing, even if it is only temporary.
Unfortunately I seem to be allergic to coconut oil. When I put it on my skin I itch terribly and also when I do it feels dry. I love coconut oil and i!m disappointed. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem .
Hi Deborah! We have not heard of anyone else that has had this problem. Being allergic to coconut is extremely rare (its not considered a tree nut). Do you have any other reactions if you consume the coconut oil?
You’re not alone. I have a friend who is so allergic to coconut oil that he can’t even use shampoo/body wash with cocamidopropyl betaine. And that stuff is in most conventional products!
Very interesting article … Alzheimers runs in my family so anything that can help peaks my interest
I love this. I’ve never used coconut oil but I always love to hear when people use natural ingredients to battle illnesses. Doctors are very quick to hand out medications which have so many bad side effects. Is coconut oil good for the skin I wonder?
Would of liked to ofmtried this with my dad, but he is now in late stage dementia. Horrible disease.
I would be willing to try this with my Grandmother. Any benefit no matter how short lived is still a benefit.
interesting how it could be beneficial, it’s exciting news even if it does work temporarily i haven’t tried coconut oil yet but it seems like it could be tasty too
It was this story that made me want to add coconut oil to my diet. Dementia runs in my family.
I am always looking out for anything that can help alzheimer’s disease. My grandfather suffers from it and we have tried so many things. I would love to try coconut oil. You never know what may work!
Interested in learning more.
Great video, will pass this along to a friend who needs it. Thanks!
Definitley will try this oil, seen and heard about it on the DR Oz show:)
Its amazing the health benefits that coconut oil has, I am always researching ways to increase my health through natural products.
I have been hearing about how healthy coconut oil is and I would really like to try it.
I am very intrested in this and def. going to try this out. Anything for the ones I love 🙂
Does it seem to reverse, or just slow down the progression.
I think it’s different with everyone, Cristy. But certainly worth a shot, even if it only slows it down! Thanks for the comment!
Wow that is amazing. how interesting. i can’t wait to try a few different things with it!
So interesting! I’m definitely going to switch to coconut oil, as Alzheimer’s runs in my family!! So any help we can get:)
I would love a sample. My mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer.
Although there is insufficient studies to prove that coconut oil does help treat Alzheimer’s Disease, I believe that there is a high percentage that this is true. Coconut oil has so many amazing benefits – for hair treatment, for skin treatment, for weight reduction, for repelling insects, for oil pulling… why not treating Alzheimer’s too? After all, there is no harm in trying. There’s nothing to lose and so much to gain for our loved ones who are battling this condition.
Very well said CocoEssentials! Thanks for the comment!
I just started using coconut oil for all my cooking. I find it easy to use and everything tastes great.
Thanks for the comment! What is your favorite dish with coconut oil?
Trouble is that we will never see good research on coconut oil and alzheimers because it isn’t woth the expense for drug companies. its a common material not easily patentable i suspect.
Reviewed all the benefits of coconut oil and can’t wait to try it
